Konsa, Palmer, and Lewis get first senior call-up

Chelsea forward Palmer and Man City defender Lewis to be elevated from the U21s squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and North Macedonia.

Ezri Konsa, Cole Palmer and Rico Lewis have received their first call up to the England senior squad.

Aston Villa defender Konsa was a 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup winner and also won seven caps for the MU21s, during which he added the 2018 Toulon Tournament to his international honors.

Chelsea forward Palmer has represented England from U15s upwards. He has 15 MU21 caps, scoring on five occasions, and lifted the U21 EURO last summer.

Manchester City’s Lewis is another who has progressed through the England pathway. Like Palmer, the 18-year-old was originally included in Lee Carsley’s MU21 squad with four caps to his name for that age group.

The trio’s addition follows the withdrawal of James Maddison, Lewis Dunk and Callum Wilson across the course of the weekend.

The majority of Gareth Southgate’s squad are due to report to St. George’s Park on Monday with further assessments to take place.
