Israel faced a significant escalation in tensions as Iran launched a barrage of more than 300 drones and missiles in an overnight assault, injuring at least 12 individuals, according to statements from Israeli military officials on Sunday.

Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli army, provided details of the attack during a televised statement, revising earlier estimates to confirm that over 300 ballistic missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and cruise missiles were deployed by Iran.

Hagari specified that 170 drones and 30 cruise missiles were among the arsenal launched, none of which breached Israeli airspace. Additionally, approximately 110 ballistic missiles were fired, with only a few managing to reach Israeli territory.

The Israeli military released a separate statement acknowledging the detection of “dozens of surface-to-surface missile launches,” the majority of which were intercepted before posing a threat to Israeli communities.

Among the injured was a seven-year-old girl residing in a Bedouin community near the southern town of Arad. The child, admitted to an intensive care unit, represented the gravity of the situation as innocent civilians bore the brunt of the attack.

The assault underscores the heightened tensions between Israel and Iran, with the latter’s aggressive actions eliciting condemnation and concern from the international community.
