How man reportedly raped prophetess inside Abeokuta church

A 40-year-old mason named Lekan Sunday has been apprehended for the alleged rape of a prophetess within a church located in Ogun State. The incident occurred last Thursday, with law enforcement authorities successfully apprehending the suspect on Monday.

Ogunwatch learnt the suspect forcibly entered the church, Orioke Aanu Oluwa Gbohunmi, situated in the Ilogbo Adu area of Kemta in Abeokuta, armed with weapons. He discovered the victim sleeping and held the prophetess captive, brandishing a knife, threatening to harm her if she resisted.

Despite her calls for help from those in the vicinity yielding no response, the prophetess pleaded with the assailant to spare her life. However, the suspect persisted in his demands for sexual intercourse.

After subjecting her to a harrowing ordeal, the prophetess managed to escape and reported the incident to a nearby police station. Law enforcement authorities initiated a search for the suspect, who had fled, and successfully apprehended him on Monday.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro and stated that the prophetess identified the suspect as a local mason and laborer in the area. Odutola mentioned that the preliminary investigation is currently underway.
