How father defiled 12-year old daughter: police witness

In a distressing case brought before the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, Police Inspector Glory Eyo provided a chilling account of how Abdullah Abiodun allegedly defiled his 12-year-old daughter.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Badagry area of Lagos.

Inspector Eyo, who was called to testify by state prosecuting counsel Olushola Sholeye, revealed that the minor was subjected to this horrifying ordeal by her own father.

During her testimony before Justice Abiola Soladoye, Eyo disclosed that it was the victim’s younger brother, Usman, who discovered the heinous act and raised the alarm.

Eyo described the sequence of events: “Abiodun was at home with his daughter, the victim, his younger brother, and a visitor who came to visit.

“After the visitor left, Usman was chased out by his father, and the defendant told him to leave the house.

“When he left, Abiodun removed his daughter’s pants, held her neck, and tried to insert his penis in her private parts.

“It was in the process of doing it that the daughter screamed. Her brother heard the noise and entered the house where he saw his father on top of his sister.”

She continued, “The defendant tried to chase Usman away, and then the victim ran out and reported to their neighbor that her father was trying to have sexual intercourse with her.

The neighbor then reported the case to the Baale, before it was reported to the Lagos State Police Badagry Division.”

Following this testimony, Justice Abiola Soladoye adjourned the case to December 16, 2023, for further proceedings.

Abdullah Abiodun, the defendant, faced charges of unlawful defilement of a child, which were brought against him by the state.

The alleged offense took place in their residence in the Badagry area of Lagos and is in violation of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Abiodun pleaded not guilty to the charge against him when he was arraigned on June 3, 2021.
