Governor Abiodun dedicates Supreme Court victory to Ogun residents

The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has dedicated his recent triumph at the Supreme Court to the people of Ogun State, expressing joy and gratitude for the unanimous judgment that affirmed his victory in the March 18 governorship election.

A five-member panel of the Supreme Court, led by Justice Tijjani Abubakar, on Friday, dismissed the appeal filed by Oladipupo Adebutu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state’s last governorship election. Justice Abubakar, while delivering the lead judgment, declared that Adebutu and his party failed to substantiate their case, resolving all raised issues against the appellants and asserting that the appeal lacked merit.

Reacting to the Supreme Court’s ruling, Governor Abiodun conveyed his appreciation through his social media account. He expressed profound gratitude to the people of Ogun State, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and its committed members, as well as other notable individuals who steadfastly supported him throughout the legal battles that ensued after his election last year.

In a post on his official account, Governor Abiodun acknowledged the numerous stages of legal challenges that his administration navigated successfully, culminating in the Supreme Court’s ultimate validation of his victory.

Abiodun stated, “I am profoundly grateful to the incredible people of Ogun State, our extraordinary political party, the All Progressives Congress, @OfficialAPCNg, and its dedicated members, as well as other prominent individuals who have supported us unwaveringly.”

He continued, “We have navigated through numerous stages of the election petition tribunal with success, culminating in the Supreme Court’s ultimate validation of our triumph. This confirmation provides undeniable evidence that the citizens of Ogun State bestowed this mandate upon us, entrusting us with the responsibility of creating a more prosperous and harmonious society for all. We embrace this weighty duty and vow to fulfill it diligently.”

Governor Abiodun’s dedication and commitment to serving the people of Ogun State were echoed in his message, reinforcing his determination to uphold the mandate bestowed upon him by the citizens.
