Tyson Fury has promised to knock out Oleksandr Usyk in their highly anticipated rematch for the undisputed heavyweight championship, after suffering his first professional defeat to the Ukrainian.
Usyk claimed victory in their first bout in May with a split decision on points, and the two will face off again on December 21 in Riyadh for the WBA, WBC, and WBO titles.
Fury, who went undefeated in his first 35 fights, aims to reclaim his title in dramatic fashion, drawing on his track record of knockout wins in rematches. The British boxer of Irish Traveller heritage previously knocked out both Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora after going the distance in their initial bouts.
“I need to be a little more focused and smart to get the victory,” Fury said at a London press conference on Wednesday. “In my rematches, I always end up knocking my opponent out, so I’m expecting something similar with Usyk.”
