The fluctuating OOU portal has been causing frustration among students, depriving them of the ability to check their results and fill out course forms at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU).
Despite being known for its reputable ICT infrastructure in Nigeria, the university’s result portal experienced a two-week blackout, leaving students from various departments unable to access their academic records.
The newly elected Student’s Union President, Ogunsanya Bamidele Peter, also known as Sen. Pizzle, has announced that the result portal is now active, allowing students to access their results. However, students remain disappointed with the situation and are calling on the university’s ICT department to provide a more permanent solution.
Oderinde Toluwalase, a 200-level Mass Communication student, expressed frustration, stating, “The prolonged downtime of the result portal has caused significant stress and uncertainty. OOU’s ICT department needs to promptly address this issue and implement measures to prevent future disruptions.”
Damilare Adenola, a 500-level Law student, shared his disappointment, saying, “Dealing with a problematic portal throughout my five years at this university is disheartening. It reflects a lack of progress within the school’s system. Given the current circumstances, I urge the management to not only fix the portal but also extend the course form registration deadline.”
Students are also calling on the university to schedule regular maintenance and updates to ensure a stable and reliable portal. They are advocating for the establishment of a dedicated support team to swiftly address any portal-related issues that may arise.
According to student reports, OOU’s ICT department should prioritize frequent reviews and improvements to enhance the portal’s performance, stability, and user experience. This should include investments in reliable infrastructure and a willingness to consider student feedback.
As the university works towards resolving the portal’s fluctuation issues, students are hopeful for a swift and long-lasting solution. However, they emphasize the importance of implementing measures to prevent such challenges from recurring, as Damilare Adenola highlighted his ongoing concerns about the issue.
