Elon Musk consider suing media watchdog amid criticism

Elon Musk, on Saturday, issued a threat to sue Media Matters and those implicated in the recent controversy surrounding his social media platform, X. The platform has faced criticism for hosting antisemitic and racist content, prompting major companies like IBM, Disney, and Apple to suspend advertising.

Musk’s endorsement of an antisemitic post on X drew condemnation, and he announced the intention to file a lawsuit once the court opens on Monday. Media Matters, in response, labeled Musk a “bully” and dismissed the threat as a “meritless lawsuit.”

This development adds to the ongoing challenges faced by X since Musk’s acquisition in October 2022, with advertisers leaving due to reduced content moderation and a surge in hate speech. The White House criticized Musk’s endorsement of antisemitic content, and he also faces lawsuits related to alleged harassment at Tesla, where he serves as CEO.

Antisemitic incidents have been on the rise globally, notably in the U.S. after the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
