Double yellow cards see James sent off, Chelsea suffer humiliating defeat

Chelsea’s season took a bleak turn on Saturday in a disastrous 4-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle, just when it seemed the Blues were on the upswing.

Eddie Howe’s squad took the lead when Alexander Isak, left unmarked in the box, calmly fired past Robert Sanchez. Chelsea’s defense showed lapses, but the game’s standout moment was Raheem Sterling’s brilliant free-kick from just outside the box, leaving Nick Pope helpless.

The second half was a complete collapse for Chelsea, with Jamaal Lascelles heading in the second and Joelinton capitalizing on Thiago Silva’s mistake for the third. Reece James was then sent off for a foul on Anthony Gordon, leaving the 10 men unable to prevent Newcastle from scoring a fourth through Gordon himself.
