The Akogun of Egbland and the Balogun of Ilawo, High Chief Abraham Adebayo Adisa Shoyoye has called on the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland to call the Olu of Orile-Ilawo, Oba (Prof.) Alexander MacGregor to order to avoid violence and bloodshed in the town.
Chief Shoyoye, who is also the Bashorun Oke-Ona Egba accused Oba MacGregor of planning to instigate violence in Ilawo by recruiting foreigners to unleash mayhem on residents.
Recall that Oba MacGregor had last week sacked the Oluwo of Ilawo, Chief Oluwole Dosunmu, the Balogun of Ilawo, Chief Abraham Soyoye, Jagunna of Ilawo, Fatai Sodimu and seven others, over their alleged involvement in the illegal sales of community lands, insubordination, flagrant disrespect to the royal stool and constituted authority.
He alleged that the Chiefs have sold not less than 1,600 acres of land without having the authority to do so.
Reacting, Chief Shoyoye in a statement in Abeokuta on Thursday, said the monarch should revisit his late father and grandfather’s deeds in Ilawo, because they followed the templates left behind.
He said “Ilawo Chiefs had not done anything beyond what his father and grandfather left behind in Ilawo, if Oba Olusegun Macgregor called our involvement in the infrastructural development of the rural areas as illegal, then what all his forebears did were illegal.
“Oba Macgregor is just power drunk and unnecessarily threatening violence in the Ilawo community.
“The sealing up of our Ile Ogboni by Oba Olusegun Macgregor is illegal and unacceptable, he and his forebears are known for violence and wickedness.
“He should be forewarned not to repeat what his forebears did to Ilawo. Ilawo is not a land of death and blood. Kabiyesi Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo Okukenu IV, should warn Oba Macgregor not to cause another bloodshed and mayhem in Ilawo as it happened in the past”, Shoyoye said.
