Democracy Day: FG announces Wednesday a public holiday

Tinubu

In a significant announcement, the Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, June 12, as a public holiday, marking the commemoration of this year’s Democracy Day. The declaration came through a statement released on Tuesday by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, as conveyed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, who extended congratulations to all Nigerians on this momentous occasion.

The statement emphasized the importance of reflecting on the sacrifices and contributions of Nigeria’s founding fathers, urging citizens to uphold the values of unity, security, peace, and indivisibility that form the foundation of the nation. Minister Tunji-Ojo reiterated the necessity for Nigerians to remain steadfast in their commitment to democratic governance principles.

Furthermore, the minister highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to implementing constructive reforms aimed at revitalizing the nation’s economy and bolstering security measures. The statement underscored the call for both Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to acknowledge the progress achieved thus far while collectively looking forward to a promising future for Nigeria’s democracy.

This declaration not only signifies the significance of Democracy Day but also serves as a reminder of the ongoing efforts to foster a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria for generations to come.
