Court removes ‘sex toy shop Senator’, Elisha Abbo in Adamawa North

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has removed Senator Elisha Abbo, who represents Adamawa North Senatorial District. The decision was reached by a three-member panel of Justices, unanimously overturning the previous tribunal judgment that had declared Abbo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightful winner of the Senatorial seat.

The appeal was made by Amos Yohanna, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election.

It’s worth noting that Senator Abbo gained notoriety in 2019 for assaulting Ms. Osimibibra Warmate in a sex toy shop in Abuja. Following this incident, a Federal Capital Territory High Court ordered the lawmaker to pay N50 million in damages to Ms. Warmate, a decision subsequently upheld by an appellate court panel led by Justice Jamilu Tukur.

Senator Abbo acknowledged his removal from the legislative house, as conveyed in a statement on his official Facebook page on Monday. He also called for his supporters and constituents to maintain composure.
