Burna Boy and Rema snag inaugural Billboard Afrobeats awards

Nigerian sensation Burna Boy continues his streak of accolades, securing a Billboard Music Award for Best Afrobeats Act, following his recent Grammy win. In a heartfelt acceptance speech on Sunday, he dedicated the honor to Africa, expressing optimism for the genre’s global impact. Billboard’s inclusion of an Afrobeats category underscores the genre’s widespread popularity.

In a recorded video, Burna Boy conveyed, “the future’s bright… This is just the tip of the iceberg, but you’re gonna see the whole vision soon.”

Adding to the Nigerian triumph, Rema received recognition for his chart-topping track “Calm Down,” earning the Best Afrobeats Song award. Grateful for the honor, Rema thanked his fans, describing the prize as “a celebration of unity and the global domination of Afrobeats.”
