Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe has reportedly finalized a deal, signed two weeks ago, stipulating that he will join Real Madrid from July 1. The Spanish newspaper MARCA disclosed this information in a Monday article, revealing that the 25-year-old forward has committed to a five-year contract with the La Liga powerhouse.
The prolonged transfer saga dates back to 2017 when Real Madrid initially expressed interest in Mbappe during his breakthrough at Monaco. On February 15, Mbappe informed PSG officials of his intention to leave when his contract concludes at the end of the season, according to a source close to the Ligue 1 champions.
Despite extending his contract with PSG until 2024 in 2022, Mbappe opted out of a clause allowing him to stay an additional year last summer. Negotiations with Real Madrid had allegedly commenced, with a source indicating that the terms of departure were yet to be fully finalized.
While PSG and Real Madrid have not officially commented on the matter, MARCA’s Monday publication confirmed the agreement, stating, “Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid have an agreement, signed two weeks ago, and as of July 1, the French striker will become a brand new player of the white team, as MARCA has been able to confirm.”
When Mbappe notified PSG of his departure on Tuesday, he reportedly declined any new contract offers, as he had already committed to Real Madrid. Despite the lack of formal statements from both clubs, questions persist about the player’s future.
