Bayelsa INEC Official kidnapped, result sheets lost in Boat mishap

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reveals a setback in election preparations as one of its officials is kidnapped in Sagbama Local Government Area, Bayelsa State.

Wilfred Ifogah, the head of INEC voters’ registration in the state, discloses that the abduction occurred at a jetty while the official awaited boat boarding. Additionally, a boat carrying election personnel and materials to southern Ijaw LGA capsized, resulting in the loss of result sheets.

Fortunately, all 12 election personnel and the boat operator were rescued. INEC assures efforts to conduct the election in the affected area and reports the abduction of its SPO in Sagbama LGA, with security agencies notified.
