Bauchi man shot dead while testing gun protection charm

In a tragic incident in Bauchi State, a 43-year-old man, Muhammadu Ali, lost his life while attempting to test a gun protection charm.

Ali, a resident of Damaiwa village, ventured into the Damaiwa bush with a native doctor and three others, aiming to prove the charm’s efficacy against gunshots. Unfortunately, when a locally-made gun was fired at Ali, the charm failed, leading to his death.

In a statement issued to journalists on Tuesday, Bauchi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the incident, stating that upon receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. Regrettably, Ali was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two of the suspects involved in the incident were apprehended, while the others fled and are being pursued by law enforcement. The investigation is ongoing, and the defendants will face charges in court.

According to the police statement, this unfortunate event serves as a reminder of the risks associated with engaging in dangerous and unverified practices.

The Bauchi State Police Command encourages the public to learn from this incident and avoid being manipulated into dangerous situations.

Every human life is precious, and justice will be sought for the victim’s family and loved ones, the police concluded.
