At least 95 dead in Spanish flash floods, king cautions of isolated areas due to severe damage

Flash floods in southern Spain have claimed at least 95 lives, as rescue teams continue efforts to locate missing individuals.

Among the victims is a 71-year-old British man who died hours after being rescued from the floodwaters in Malaga, confirmed by Andalusia’s president.

Earlier, King Felipe VI described “enormous destruction” to infrastructure, which has made accessing certain communities more challenging.

Videos on social media show floodwaters wreaking havoc, sweeping cars through streets and forcing some people to cling to trees.

Local officials are also cautioning the public about misinformation circulating online, including false reports about the safety of Valencia’s tap water.
