Akpabio: Lawmakers face re-election challenge beyond legislative duties

During the centenary birthday celebration of Second Republic lawmaker Senator Kunle Oyero in Abeokuta, Senate President Godswill Akpabio asserted that merely fulfilling legislative duties won’t secure re-election.

Represented by Senator Shuaib Salisu, Akpabio highlighted the mismatch between public expectations and legislative roles, emphasizing the electorate’s focus on tangible contributions like transformers.

He noted the widespread misconception of the legislature’s role, revealing the challenge of being held accountable even for matters beyond their control. In a candid reflection, Akpabio shed light on the complex dynamics that influence lawmakers’ political fate.
