Nigerian chef Temitope Adebayo, known as Tope Maggie, has reportedly broken the Guinness World Record for the longest individual cooking marathon, surpassing Irish chef Alan Fisher’s 119-hour and 57-minute record. Oyo Affairs on Twitter announced Chef Maggie’s accomplishment, completing a 200-hour cook-a-thon that concluded at 3 am on Saturday, November 18.
Tope exceeded Fisher’s record, garnering cheers from supporters at the Ogbomoso Recreation Club, opposite LAUTECH College of Health Sciences, Isale-General, Ogbomoso, Oyo State. The cook-a-thon commenced on November 9th and concluded on November 18th.
Awaiting confirmation from the Guinness World Records, Tope Maggie’s feat is celebrated amidst congratulations. The event marks a shift from Chef Hilda Baci, the previous Nigerian record holder recently dethroned by Fisher.
Tope Maggie, a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, specializing in Hotel Management, inherited the name “Maggie” from his mother, from whom he learned cooking. Currently managing a chain of restaurants in Ogbomoso, Tope’s culinary prowess stands as a testament to his dedication and skill.
