Judges absence delays Naira Marley’s alleged cybercrime trial

The cybercrime trial of street-hop artist Azeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, faced a setback as the Federal High Court in Lagos adjourned due to the judge’s absence. 

Scheduled for Monday, the trial was disrupted because Justice Nicholas Owiebo, overseeing the case, attended a judges’ conference.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is prosecuting Fashola on cybercrime charges dating back to May 14, 2019. 

Despite being granted bail of N2 million with two sureties, the trial is ongoing after Fashola pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on May 20, 2019.
