On Monday, October 25, in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, a tragic incident occurred when a tree fell, resulting in the unfortunate death of a woman. Additionally, ten individuals waiting by the roadside near Baystar petrol station in the Zango-Kulende area, opposite Oke-Andi junction, Ilorin, sustained injuries.
This event, which happened around 8 a.m., caused confusion in the vicinity. The falling tree not only claimed a life but also severed electricity cables and caused damage to nearby shops.
Fortunately, certain shop owners in the area, as well as a vulcanizer named Malam Abdulrasheed, narrowly escaped harm as they hadn’t yet opened for business at the time of the incident. The injured victims were promptly taken to the Olutayo Clinic, a private hospital located behind the Baystar petrol station.
Many received treatment and were subsequently discharged, while those with more severe injuries were referred to the Government General Hospital and the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in Oke-Oyi. Saw millers were deployed to clear the fallen tree and debris from the area.
