Ogun police to punish three officers for extortion

The Ogun state police command has said the three officers who were seen in a viral video extorting money from commercial motorbike riders at Maawu Bus stop in Agbado area of the state would be punished.

SP Omolola Odutola, the commands Public Relations Officer, in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday stated that,  the officers Insp. Ikhanorba Lucky, Insp. Paul Sunday and Insp. Edwin Ekeogu blatantly violated the police act and regulations.

According to Odutola,the three policemen’s inappropriate behaviour which  was posted on social media was sharply denounced by Abiodun Alamutu, the commissioner of police.

โ€ To address this misconduct, the command has activated appropriate disciplinary measures against the erring personnel.

โ€ This is to ensure that they are held accountable for their misconduct and to serve as a deterrent to others who might be tempted to toe this ignoble path.

โ€ The CP has for the umpteenth time emphasized police high hierarchy commitment to upholding professional standards within the force to sustain quality service delivery to the citizens and sustain public trust and confidence in Nigeria Police Force,โ€ she added.
