The Ogun State House of Assembly has taken notice of the recurring disruptions to the academic calendar at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta. This follows a recent strike by both teaching and non-teaching staff due to unpaid salaries for July, August, and September.
Additionally, students protested against an abrupt increase in admission acceptance fees from N35,000 to N50,500, along with significant delays in result releases, which could extend up to two semesters.
Yusuf Amosun, Chairman of the House Committee on Education, Science, and Technology, has submitted reports on these disruptions, along with an e-petition to Speaker Olakunle Oluomo.
After thorough deliberation, the Assembly has resolved to hold a public hearing to address the challenges faced by the institution and ensure that students are not unduly affected by future strikes.
