In a widely circulated video on social media, a man is seen holding a bag of rice labeled ‘Ogun State Palliative Programme,’ expressing dissatisfaction with the meager amount of rice allocated for the 147 households in Shokeye Estate.

The man, who identifies himself as the chairman of Shokeye CDA, emphasized that the estate is not in dire need and the residents are not in a position of desperation. He stated, “We are not hungry; we are not beggars. So we don’t need your rice as palliative. This is not even up to one-eighth of a bag of rice.”

This incident occurred approximately a month after the Federal Government allocated N5 billion to each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for palliatives following the removal of fuel subsidy.
