A person identified as a member of the Yoruba Nation group who was demonstrating in a protest at the Ojota area of Lagos has been killed Monday morning by men of the Lagos police command.

In a video obtained by Ogunwatch, while a police vehicle was ablaze, a person could be seen lying lifeless on the ground of the Ojota axis of Ikorodu road.

It was learnt that Monday, the self-determination group “Yoruba Nation” gathered at Ojota, Lagos for a peaceful rally and in the course of this, the Nigeria policemen trying to disperse the gathering, shot directly at the crowd. This led to the killing of two people.

It was learnt that following the killings, the protesters retaliated by setting police vehicles ablaze. In another video obtained by our correspondent ”Sauti Igboro” as he called himself, said: ”They have killed our people in Lagos state, two of our people have been killed. There will be chaos in Yoruba land.

”We didn’t attack anyone, it was a peaceful protest and they killed our people. We will burn down these stations.” He also called on Sunday Igboho and professor Banji Akintoye, leaders of the self-determination group to come to their aid.

Reacting, the police spokesperson, Ben Hundeyin, described the protesters as ”miscreants masquerading as Yoruba Nation Agitators” who came out in their hundreds, disrupting social and commercial activities at the Ojota area of the State.

Hundeyin, in a statement posted on his Twitter account, claimed that One person has been confirmed dead, while two police officers shot by the ”miscreants” are currently receiving treatment, adding that four of the protesters have been arrested.

Also reacting to the development, the AAC Flagbearer, Omoyele Sowore took to his social media handle to write: “Bloodthirsty Nigeria Police Force reportedly killed two Yoruba Nation agitators at a peaceful rally in Ojota, Lagos today. I totally condemn this unprovoked murder of peaceful demonstrators. #WeCantContinueLikeThis”
