The African Action Congress (AAC) in Ogun state has suspended the state Assistant Secretary of the party, Adewale Bashir Hammed over Anti-party affairs, gross misconduct amongst other offences.
The party said the decision followed the vote of no confidence passed on the assistant secretary through the state executives on November 9, 2022; where he was subsequently suspended in an emergency meeting.
This was contained in a statement signed by the State Chairman, Mr. Afolabi Adesina which was sent to Ogunwatch after the state executive council meeting in Abeokuta.
The state executives after its meeting on Wednesday ratified the suspension and directed the state secretary, Ifemosu Michael Adewale to take over the affairs of the party solely from him.
The statement reads partly, “Consequent on the development, working members of the State Executive Committee has adopted the vote of no confidence passed on him and the subsisting suspension order from the organs of the party in the state.
“Mr. Adewale Bashir Hammed was suspended due to various anti -party activities, gross misconduct, unguarded utterances aimed at bringing the image of the party to disrepute, attempts to distabilized our great party through undue negative publicity in contravention of Article 6, section 1, 2 and 4; Article 22 section 6 and Article 32 which deals with the Oath of office.
The State Secretary, Ifemosu Michael Adewale has been directed to take over all property of the party in possession of the suspended assistant secretary, as well as direct the affairs of the secretariat.”
Ogunwatch learnt that 7 out of the 10 state executive members of the Ogun state chapter of the AAC signed for the suspension.
When Ogunwatch reached out to the suspended Assistant secretary, he said the suspension came to him as a shock.
He said: “It was a shock when my attention was brought to a press release announcing my suspension. I never saw it coming. I have reached to other executives of the party at the state level and four out of them persons I reached out to claimed that they still have their confidence in me and are ready to always be with me in my further decision.”
“Yes I am going to appeal the suspension to the National level because my suspension is not constitutionally done. It was supposed to be from the ward level and not from the state level.”
